I KNOW NOTHING

I know nothing!! I love the following quote from C.S Lewis's book, Mere Christianity; "Ever since I served as an infantryman in the First World War I have had a great dislike of people, who themselves in ease and safety, issue exhortations to men on the front line. As a result, I have a reluctance to say much about temptations to which I myself am not exposed". In a nutshell, it's about people who put themselves up as armchair experts yet have never even served on the frontline. Be wary of becoming an armchair expert. For myself, I am sharing from over fifty years of experience in my Christian walk. Now I'm not saying that age matters or even the years always count. You can have someone that gave their life to the Lord many years ago but has never fully surrendered so not fully matured as a result of this. What I am saying, is that despite over 50 years of experience of walking with the Lord, 40 years in full-time ministry which I am still in, I do not perceive myself to be an expert and am forever learning. Don't mistake what I'm saying. I am not saying we should not speak out about things that are wrong or unjust. We have entered the season of the Pei, the Hebrew letter for 2020 which represents the mouth. Let’s use our words carefully and before you speak think are you being an armchair critic or not. May we ever seek to stay humble beneath the cross of Christ, and our motto be, "I know nothing!". Shalom, shalom John
